About this collection

The annual, or yearbook was a popular element of life at many colleges and universities.  It has become less common, and in fact, never has existed during the time Eastern Washington Univeristy has held university status.  However, a yearbook was published for students at Eastern from the early 1900s until the 1970s.  The earliest annuals were produced by the students of the Cheney State Normal School, but by 1912 the annual publication was replaced the spring issue of the school’s literary magazine, “Kinnikinick”  Starting in 1923 the yearbook resumed publication, under the “Kinnikinick” title, continuing until 1972.  Several small annuals honoring the graduates of the year followed the discontinuation of the Kinnikinick, but the yearbook concept faded away at Eastern by the mid 1980s.
